Search for 'Payconiq by Bancontact' in the App Store or Google Play Store and tap on the app pictogram. The download will start automatically and the subsequent activation process will take place in three steps:
- One: the app will ask you to create a user profile by entering your personal details and choosing a secret four-digit PIN code. The app will be active as soon as you have completed this step. However, you still need to register your card in order to carry out transactions.
- Two: the app will ask you to register a valid Bancontact card. Select the card-issuing bank for your card, enter the card details and create an alias (optional) for the card. Confirm the registration by carrying out a transaction of 0 euros (or 0.01 euros for KBC and CBC customers) with your separate card reader or digipass (using your card's PIN code). In order to use the app, you must link at least one valid Bancontact card to it.
- Three: link a bank account to the app by selecting the bank with which you have an account and entering your account number. The app will use this account number when you make a payment to your friends or colleagues by clicking on "contacts", or to a merchant by clicking on "shops" on the start screen. Currently, only AXA, Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis, CBC Banque, Fintro, Hello Bank!, ING, KBC Bank, KBC Brussels and vdk bank customers can link their bank account to the Payconiq by Bancontact app. Other banks will follow soon.

Once you have successfully completed all the steps, you will be able to make mobile payments with the Payconiq by Bancontact app.
You can also register additional Bancontact cards (a maximum of 5) by choosing 'Add card' via the 'Payment Methods' option in the main menu. For the time being, you can only link one bank account to make payments using 'Contacts' or 'Shops'.
