First smarter in-app service: the student card in Hasselt can be topped up using a mobile with the Payconiq by Bancontact app

Today, the Payconiq by Bancontact app takes another step in the direction of smarter payments by adding specially selected new payment services and options to the app that make paying in specific situations increasingly straightforward.

First cab off the rank in these handy new payment services is: mobile topping up of Ping.Ping saldo in Hasselt. The Ping.Ping payment system has now been incorporated into the student and staff cards used at UHasselt and Hogeschool PXL. These cards enable you to make payments at the campus in Hasselt as well as at the one in Diepenbeek (catering, printing/copying, vending machines, reception, sports and VEDO bike hire). It also gives you a discount when you use the card to pay in the student restaurant.

Of course the card needs to be topped up regularly, which you can do at the PinPoint machine on the campus, as you did before. But from October, you’ll also be able load your card using your mobile. All students or staff have to do is install the Payconiq by Bancontact app on their smartphone and register for the Ping.Ping service.  And once they’ve done that, it’s so easy for them to top up their student or staff card using the Payconiq by Bancontact app on their smartphone (Android and Apple) – between classes, at the restaurant or even from home. In a word: when they want, where they want and for how much they want.  

It’s so easy to top up a student card now that the Payconiq by Bancontact app and the Ping.Ping payment system have been linked.
